The SWAG team is happy to announce that summer 2019 has been one for the books. It all started on July 1st with the Nova Scotia themed Canada Day, which became an instant hit with our community members. On that day Aspotogan Heritage Trust hosted over 300 residents from the local area!
Throughout the summer the SWAG team continued to coordinate youth volunteers in the area. This year they had a record number of youth involved, with over 30 members volunteering at Canada Day, Hubbards Waterfront Movie Nights, The Hubbards Grand Street Parade, and various other community events. These community events helped the volunteers gain valuable experience in hopes that they may start building their resume at a young age!
During the summer SWAG team also helped Lori, our green-thumbed IT/Communications Director, tend to the community garden.
The team played a vital role in reinvigorating the Seniors’ Picnic and ran the kid’s section at the World Tuna Flat Races.
The SWAG team finished off the year with the Hubbards Grand Street Parade. The team was happy to see a high volume of entries and variety of floats!
Aspotogan Heritage Trust looks forward to seeing the community to come out and celebrate our 25th year with our Open House on October 5th from 11 am to 2 pm.
